at least that's the way it felt when Jamie and I were able to get away ALONE and go snow skiing. We left the kids with the Russell family- great friends of ours here in WA- and then we headed over to Crystal Mountain ski resort to stay the night on Mon. We woke Tues and drove over to the ski resort to enjoy a day of skiing. It was the best conditions you could ask for. It's the largest in the Northwest. I believe it too b/c this place was huge. In the last week they received at least 10 feet of snow on top of what was already there for the season. The roads and parking lots were piled high with snow. I was able to capture some photos of the scenery around. The climb on the lift to the Summit went from 4,400 up to 7,012. Once at the Summit you could see all of the Cascade Mountains and then over to the Olympic Mountains. Mt. Rainier was RIGHT THERE next to the Summit so to see that next to us felt like we were one top of the world. I know there are higher mountains than Mt. Rainier but this chick has never experienced that so this was really on top of the world to me. The weather was so perfect that we ate at some picnic tables at the top of the Summit surrounded by piles of snow with a scenery to die for. Check out my photos... hope you enjoy. The view behind the photo of myself is of Mt. Rainier. The clouds covered most of it. The photos are NOTHING compared to what this was really like to be there in person.
