Lately I've been chatting with my uncle back in AL. We were talking about my grandparents and remembering old memories of where they use to live. Last week him, my other uncles, and my mom made a trip down to the cemetary where my grandparents are buried. They cleaned up the grave sites for decoration day that's held every Mother's Day. Near this cemetary is where my grandparents use to live. After leaving the cemetary they drove by the ol'place to see what it was like. My grandparents lived a long happy life- a total of 70 yrs b/f my pawpaw passed away. He was 94 when he died and my mawmaw died 6 yrs later at the age of 95. They ended up moving from this ol'place next to my uncle's b/c of their age and health. From what mom and my uncle described this place is like now- brings tears and chills to me. You see- there were many many memories made there. Many memories I can play over and over in my head. I can still hear the conversations with my grandparents I had while spending time with them. We (my sister, brother, and I) ran the countryside at this ol'place and spent many nights with them. The smell of bacon in the morning, pawpaw poking the fire and spitting in his ash bucket. I'd pick handfulls of mawmaws beautiful flowers in the yard and the sound of the old clock ticking as I drift off to sleep at night. Those were the good'ol days. I miss my grandparents. They were great people and spoilded me rotten. I'm posting some photos- these photos are photos I took of old photos I had so the quality isn't the best. Enjoy...

That is sooo sweet. There is really something special about growing up in the country and having your grandparents so close to ya. This makes me miss AL!
TAG, You're it!
See my blog!
I too had grandparents who lived well into their 90's and had an OL' Place very similar to this. Such precious memories! Remembering all the sounds and smells and chit-chat in the kitchen. Life is full of wonerful seasons and people of which there are so many lessons to learn. Thanks for sharing...
